Sources: Rangers could accept Glen Kamara offer after transfer twist

Rangers midfield star Glen Kamara could exit this summer after four-and-a-half years at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ibrox club moved to add Belgium youth international Nicolas Raskin, 21, in January – with manager Michael Beale admitting that he will be in direct competition with Kamara for first-team action.

As such, sources with knowledge of the situation of Kamara, 27, have revealed there are “question marks” over his long-term future at Rangers and there is a strong likelihood he will leave this summer.

Kamara joined the Gers in 2019 and was on the radar of Premier League clubs before signing a four-year contract extension in September 2021.

The Arsenal academy product was linked with a move to Serie A Salernitana as recently as November 2022, with clubs in La Liga and Ligue 1 also reportedly interested.

A January move failed to materialise but interest could be revived ahead of the summer window.

It is believed that there is interest in Kamara from Premier League clubs.

Kamara managed just two Scottish Premiership starts prior to Beale’s appointment in November but has reestablished himself as a key fixture in the Rangers side.

He has notched one goal and one assist in 15 starts across all competitions this season.

The midfielder, who cost £50,000 when he was signed from Dundee four years ago, played a key role in the Scottish Premiership title win in 2020-21.

He was also a fixture in the side which reached the Europa League final under Giovanni van Bronckhorst last season.

Raskin is yet to become an established part of Beale’s side but showed fans a flash of his quality when he laid on the assist for Antonio Colak’s goal in the 3-2 cup win over Partick Thistle on Saturday (11 February).

Beale will also have key decisions to make on the future of midfield trio Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, and Scott Arfield – who are all out of contract in May.
