Sources: Rangers ‘doing everything’ to keep Djeidi Gassama after offer rejected
Rangers are doing everything in their power to keep Djeidi Gassama at Ibrox this month after turning down a bid from Monaco in recent days.
Monaco‘s offer would have seen the 22-year-old to make the switch to Ligue 1 on an initial loan deal with an £10million obligation to buy, which would not have suited Rangers.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Danny Rohl has no plans to lose key players from his squad this month.
Gassama has played a key role since Rohl’s arrival and has already made 40 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
The winger is expected to remain at Ibrox at least until the summer, when Rangers will again brace for big-money offers for their star man.

Rangers make Djeidi Gassama exit stance clear
Football Insider revealed on 16 December that Rangers will not sell Gassama in January under any circumstances as he remains a key part of their plans.
The winger is under contract at Ibrox until 2029, placing the Glasgow club in a strong position with regard to his long-term future and a potential move away.
Monaco’s offer didn’t come close to matching their desires, while they are reluctant to entertain offers at any value, and he is now expected to remain at Rangers.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Right now, I don’t think Rangers have any interest in letting Gassama leave Ibrox this month, despite that approach from Monaco.
“It was a loan with an obligation for around 10 million. So it wouldn’t have been money up front for Rangers in that deal and that wouldn’t have been of interest to them.
“Gassama has been one of the successes of last summer’s recruitment drive at Ibrox having joined from Sheffield Wednesday, he’s been a regular under Danny Rohl.
“I don’t think Rangers would be willing to let him move on as of right now.

“They want to keep him as they aim to maintain their push to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, they won’t want to lose any players.
“I think they’ll be doing everything they can to keep hold of him and that was shown by them rejecting that approach from Monaco. So I would expect him to stay.”
Rangers could accept late offer for Danilo
Despite putting new plans in place to keep their best players, Rangers are prepared to let fringe players leave before the transfer deadline on 2 February.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 28 January that Rangers could accept offers for Danilo late in the window, but only if they can land a replacement.
Rohl does not want to leave himself short of options at the top of the pitch, but a late addition to the attacking ranks would open the door for the Brazilian to move elsewhere.

Football Insider revealed last week that Rangers are pushing to add another striker before Monday’s deadline, which could open the door for Danilo.
The 26-year-old hasn’t started in the league for Rangers since 3 December, but scored during a brief cameo against Dundee last time out in the SPFL.
