Sources: Rangers in talks today to sign ex-Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi

Rangers are working on a sensational deal to sign ex-Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that Ibrox boss Philippe Clement has personally spoken to the Belgiam international to detail his plans for the forward and further talks are expected to be held today (10 January).

Batshuayi, 30, has been given the green light to leave Turkish giants Fenerbahce after failing to agree on a new deal.

His contract expires in the summer, which has opened the door for Rangers and other clubs to make a move.

Batshuayi has a stellar record at multiple elite clubs across Europe including Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia, Marseille and Crystal Palace.

He scored 15 goals and supplied five assists across 77 Premier League matches during his permanent stint at Chelsea and his two loan spells at Palace.

But it was at Marseille, where he scored 33 times in 78 games, and Dortmund, where his 14 matches yielded nine goals, where he really flourished.

The striker also has an impressive international record with Belgium, scoring 27 goals from 53 internationals.

He has also notched eight goals and three assists across 21 outings in all competitions for Fenerbahce despite only making one start in the Super Lig.

Rangers

As revealed by Football Insider (5 January), Rangers are working on signing a second forward in the January transfer window after the landmark signing of Fabio Silva on loan.

Rangers sit second in the league table following their 3-1 win over Kilmarnock on 2 January before the winter break and next face Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup.
