Sources: Rangers make ‘aggressive’ move to sign Luis Palma

Rangers are interested in Honduran international Luis Palma as they try to build a new team for next season’s title charge, sources have told Football Insider.

Michael Beale has pushed on with recruitment despite losing his director of football Ross Wilson to Nottingham Forest in recent weeks.

Palma, who stars for Greek club Aris Saloniki, is the latest target for Rangers as the club try to be aggressive in the market and get business done early so they can focus next season on catching fierce rivals Celtic.

The 23-year-old has been watched by The Gers and impressed scouts who have recommended him to Beale.

However there is major competition for his signature as clubs round Europe and in England are looking to sign him ahead of the summer.

The Aris Saloniki player only moved to his current club in January last year for the small fee of £200,000 but his impressive skill set and performances have risen his stock considerably.

Palma has made a total of 33 appearances for Aris Saloniki this season, which have yielded 11 goals and seven assists.

The left side of the attack is one of the positions the Glasgow side have earmarked with potential replacements as Ryan Kent nears the end of his contract and has offers from the likes of Burnley.

With Kent and Alfredo Morelos set to leave, and a handful of stars coming to the end of their deals, the pressure is on Beale and the Ibrox board to produce the goods in the transfer market.

Rivals Celtic have blown Rangers away in recent history and their recruitment has been the foundation of their domestic dominance.
