Sources: Rangers open talks to sign Haji Wright

Rangers have made striker Haji Wright their number one target to replace Alfredo Morelos and are working on a deal to sign him, sources have Football Insider.

The USA front man, 25, is at Turkish side Antalyaspor and has been a key player since his arrival from SönderjyskE in the summer of 2021.

Rangers are now set to negotiate a fee for the £7million-valued forward, who is contracted until 2025, as talks get underway.

The Glasgow side have been on a exhaustive search to find a talisman who can help them close the gap to treble-chasing Celtic.

Matija Frigin and Tasos Douvikas have both been subject to enquiries from the club but it is now understood that Rangers believe Wright offers the best option and hope to land him this summer.

Rangers are losing a host of stars with Allan Mcgregor, Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos all set to depart the club when their contracts expire this summer.

Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling have also joined, with talks ongoing with former England goalkeeper Jack Butland who is available on a pre-contract deal.
