Sources: Rangers opening new Ryan Kent talks after £11.2m reveal

Rangers are making a fresh attempt to secure Ryan Kent to a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The Glasgow giants facing losing the left-sided forward, 26, for nothing next year if he does not sign an extension.

Football Insider revealed last month (1 October) that Kent has rejected a lucrative new contract offer as he sets his sights on a move to the Premier League.

Now, Rangers are planning to use the World Cup break to open new talks and try to secure the future of one of their prize assets.

The Liverpool academy product is out of contract next summer and talks over an extension have failed to secure an agreement.

Fulham are monitoring Kent’s situation as they weigh up a potential move.

Kent can agree a pre-contract deal with cross-border or foreign clubs from 1 January.

Rangers announced their latest set of annual financial results last week, which revealed record revenues of £86.8million.

This included an £11.2million profit on player trading during the 2021-22 season.

Kent has still been a mainstay in the Rangers side despite his precarious contract situation.

The winger has notched one goal and six assists across 22 outings in all competitions – including nine appearances in the Champions League.

The 26-year-old has racked up a total of 31 goals and 53 assists across almost 200 games for the Glasgow giants.

Rangers

Rangers have slipped nine points behind rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race – casting doubt on the future of manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

On Monday (14 November), this site revealed that Rangers are increasingly likely to sack Van Bronckhorst in the coming days following crisis talks at the weekend.
