Sources: Rangers set to offload 2019 signing to English club by Monday night
Rangers are increasingly likely to find a new team for defender George Edmundson by Monday night, Football Insider has learned.
There have been a number of enquiries made for the centre-back, 23, from clubs in the Championship and League One ahead of deadline day.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Rangers believe Edmundson will head out in the next 48 hours, most likely on loan for the rest of the season.
The centre-back’s long-term future at the Light Blues is up in the air due to a number of factors.
Rangers announced the pre-contract signing of Bournemouth centre-back Jack Simpson earlier this week and Edmundson blotted his copybook with a seven-game suspension for breaching Covid regulations with teammate Jordan Jones.
Football Insider revealed on 29 December that Ibrox chiefs had given the green light to the defender going out on loan in this window.

But a potential move for Edmundson had been put on hold after he underwent a hernia operation in mid-January that Steven Gerrard expected to sideline him for between three and four weeks.
Rangers are keen for the defender to spend the second half of the season at an EFL club to get regular playing time at a high level.
He has made only one appearance for the Light Blues this season, in a Europa League qualifier in September.
His long-term future at Rangers is in doubt.
Edmundson, who joined from Oldham Athletic in July 2019, will have just 12 months remaining on his deal at the end of this season.
