Sources: Rangers submitting £1.5m Morgan Whittaker bid
Rangers are ready to submit a £1.5million bid for Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker, sources have told Football Insider.
The Glasgow giants’ opening offer for the 22-year-old of around £1m has been knocked back.
Now, Rangers are set to return to the negotiating table with an improved bid as they step up their attempt to lure Whittaker by the January deadline.
The forward has emerged as one of Rangers’ top targets this month as boss Michael Beale looks to add to his side’s attacking options.
Whittaker shone during the first half of the season on loan at Plymouth, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists before being recalled by Swansea earlier this month.
Swansea are reluctant to lose Whittaker unless their asking price is met.
Beale, who is also keen to land Todd Cantwell from Norwich City, is in the market for multiple forward signings this month.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (15 January) that PSV Eindhoven are rivalling Rangers for Cantwell as they look to replace Cody Gakpo this month.
Whittaker can play on the right flank as well as in an attacking midfield berth.
He has racked up 16 league goals in almost 90 appearances in the Championship and League One during his spells at Swansea, Plymouth, Lincoln, and Derby.
The Swans are 11th in the second tier but are just three points adrift of a play-off berth as they seek a return to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Rangers are second in the Scottish Premiership – nine points adrift of Celtic at the top of the table.
Beale’s side will also face the Hoops in the final of the Scottish League Cup on 26 February.
