Sources: Reading in talks to sign FC Copenhagen star Paul Mukairu
Reading are in talks to sign FC Copenhagen forward Paul Mukairu, sources have told Football Insider.
Royals boss Ruben Selles is desperate to bolster his side’s attacking options after losing their opening two games in League One this season.
Reading have lined up a deal to sign Mukairu, 23, on a season-long loan deal with the attacker able to play anywhere across the front line.
The Nigerian, who is yet to feature in seven games this season, is out of contract at Copenhagen in December 2025.
Mukairu failed to start a single game for the Danish side last term, but made 10 appearances from the bench – including two cameos against Man City in the Champions League.
The versatile attacker joined the club in January 2022 but has managed just one assist in 25 appearances so far.
Before that, he plied his trade for Turkish side Antalyaspor – where he came through the ranks after leaving Nigeria as a youth.
He racked up 53 games for the Super Lig outfit despite his tender age, managing eight goals and two assists.
Mukairu also went out on loan to Anderlecht for the 2020-21 campaign, notching four goals and four assists in 29 games for the Belgian giants.
Reading have lined him up as their next target as they vie for an immediate return to the Championship.

The Royals have already signed Harlee Dean, Sam Smith, Lewis Wing, Harvey Knibbs, Charlie Savage, David Button, Tyler Bindon and Tivonge Rushesha so far this summer.
They are next in action against Cheltenham on Tuesday (15 August).
