Sources: Rotherham United agree deal for Watford star Domingos Quina

Rotherham United have agreed a deal to sign Watford midfielder Domingos Quina, sources have told Football Insider.

Quina, 23, is currently on a season-long loan deal in La Liga with Elche, but Watford have agreed to cancel the loan early to allow him to spend the rest of the season with Rotherham.

Watford would prefer Quina to return to England and complete the Rotherham move in order for him to receive more regular playing time.

The attacking midfielder has made only 11 appearances in Spain since completing his loan move, with just three of them as a starter.

Quina spent time in the academies of Benfica, Chelsea and West Ham as a youngster, before the Hammers decided to hand him a professional contract in 2016 to fend off interest from Arsenal.

He played twice for the Hammers later that season, playing in both legs of the Europa League tie against NK Domzale.

Quina then joined Watford in 2018 and signed a four-year contract with the Hornets after a £1million move from the London Stadium.

He made his Premier League debut for the side in a 2-1 loss to Manchester City and became the youngest Watford player to score in the Premier League after finding the back of the net against Cardiff City later that season.

But Quina failed to cement a spot in the starting XI at Vicarage Road and has instead spent recent seasons out on loan to Granada, Fulham, Barnsley and Elche.

Quina has also gained experience on the international stage with Portugal, playing in every youth team for the nation from the Under-17s to the Under-21s.
