Sources: Sheffield Wednesday make move to sign ex-Arsenal defender – MLS clubs also keen

Sheffield Wednesday have enquired about signing ex-Arsenal defender Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, sources have told Football Insider.

Ormonde-Ottewill, 27, is currently plying his trade in Hungary with Puskas Akademia FC and is in the final six months of his contract with the club.

Sheffield Wednesday are considering offering the left-back a return to the UK, while several Major League Soccer sides are keen to lure the former England youth international to the US.

The defender has impressed for Puskas Akademia since joining the club in September 2022.

Ormonde-Ottewill came through the ranks at Arsenal and captained the Under-18 side before being released in 2015.

He has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Puskas Akademia this term – who play in Hungary’s top flight.

After leaving Arsenal in 2015, the defender enjoyed a successful two-year spell at Swindon Town – notching two goals and two assists in 56 games before leaving for Europe.

Ormonde-Ottewill played at Dutch second-division sides Dordrecht and Excelsior before heading to Hungary.

He plays primarily as a left-back but can also star further forward as a wing-back in a five-man midfield.
