Sources: Southampton star Nathan Redmond undergoing Besiktas medical today

Southampton winger Nathan Redmond is flying to Turkey on Tuesday for talks and a medical at Besiktas, sources have told Football Insider.

The 28-year-old is being allowed to leave St Mary’s as he does not figure in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans going forward.

Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas have all expressed an interest in Redmond, but he has agreed to join Besiktas.

The transfer window in Turkey does not close until Thursday (8 September).

Redmond is set to link up with his former England teammate Dele Alli in the Turkish capital.

He still has a year left to run on his contract at St. Mary’s but has only played one minute of Premier League football this season.

Hassenhuttl has not even selected the one-time international in his matchday squad in the previous five top-flight games.

Southampton bolstered their wide ranks in the summer transfer window with the arrivals of Samuel Edoze and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Joe Aribo and Adam Armstrong have also operated out wide in the opening games of the season.

Redmond moved to the club from Norwich City in the summer of 2016 and has proved good value for his £10million transfer fee.

He looks set to end his Saints career with 30 goals and 27 assists in 232 appearances across all competitions.

In the Premier League, the Birmingham-born ace has 54 goal contributions in 264 games in his time with Norwich and Southampton.

In other news, a medical insider has claimed Romain Perraud may not recover until 2023 as new Southampton details emerge.
