Sources: Stoke City respond to near-£1million bid for Tyrese Campbell – big news for Rangers and Celtic

Stoke City have rejected a late bid from Italian side Hellas Verona for forward Tyrese Campbell, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Serie A side offered just over £850,000 for the 24-year-old, but the Potters were not willing to let him go at that price.

Campbell has made just 11 appearances in all competitions this season amid injury struggles and has scored two goals and provided two assists.

The attacker penned a four-and-a-half-year contract in January 2020, when he held talks about joining Rangers and Celtic, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

He is once again on the radar of the two Glasgow giants.

Campbell made 44 appearances for the club in all competitions last season, bagging nine goals and six assists.

The Englishman returned to training early last month after recovering from injury and has since featured in Stoke’s last three league games.

He earned his first start since 2 December in their last Championship game against Sunderland on Saturday (27 January).

Campbell is a highly versatile attacker and has been fielded as a left-winger, a centre-forward, an attacking midfielder and a right-midfielder this season.

He graduated from Stoke’s academy after joining from Man City in 2016 and has since made 152 appearances, scoring 34 goals and providing 20 assists.
