Sources: Swansea City and Coventry City plotting to sign Portsmouth’s Zak Swanson
Swansea City and Coventry City are keeping tabs on Portsmouth defender Zak Swanson, sources have told Football Insider.
The right-back, 22, impressed last season at Portsmouth after joining the club in the summer of 2022 from Arsenal.
Championship duo Swansea and Coventry are both in the market for reinforcements at right-back and Swanson figures highly on their list of targets.
The versatile defender made 25 appearances in all competitions for Portsmouth last term and chipped in with two goals and one assist.
Swanson, who came through the ranks at Arsenal, had a loan spell in Holland with MVV Maastricht in 2020 and he was a regular for the club’s Under-23s.
Swanson had been training with the Arsenal first team and was named on the bench for the final 15 Premier League games of 2021-22.
The defender scored twice and provided two assists in 32 games for Arsenal Under-23s.
He did not make his senior bow for the Gunners but played three times when on loan with MVV Maastricht in the Netherlands’ second-tier.
In his first season with Portsmouth he played 25 matches and contributed to three goals at full-back.

With Coventry narrowly missing out on promotion to the Premier League after their playoff final defeat against Luton Town, more defensive reinforcements could be the driving force in ensuring promotion in the next campaign.
Swansea fell just three points off a playoff spot in the last season, and will be hoping to be among the teams to get promoted by strengthening the squad in the transfer market.
