Sources: Swansea City have second Josh Key offer rejected by Exeter

Swansea City have had a second offer for Exeter City star Josh Key turned down, sources have told Football Insider.

The defender, 24, is out of contract at Exeter later this month and is set to move on.

Exeter are due a compensation fee for Key due to his age, but if a deal cannot be agreed with Swansea the player could be forced to go across the border or into Europe where no compensation would be due.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (25 June) that the Swans, West Brom and Plymouth Argyle are in talks to sign the defender.

Swansea have now lodged two bids for Key and are prepared to go to tribunal if need be, while West Brom and Plymouth are also trying to find an agreement with Exeter.

Key made 48 appearances for Exeter last season, netting four goals and offering up two assists in those outings.

The defender was in the starting lineup for 38 of his 42 League One appearances in a campaign where The Grecians finished 14th.

The Devon outfit amassed 56 points but managed only one win in their final five matches.

Key was a big part of the Exeter side that won promotion to League One in the 2021-22 season.

The Swans are keen to bolster their defensive options before the Championship season begins in August.
