Sources: Swansea star Bidwell undergoing Coventry City medical after deal agreed

Swansea City defender Jake Bidwell is undergoing a Coventry City medical after agreeing a permanent move, Football Insider understands.

The 28-year-old has settled the terms of a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Championship club.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Bidwell has started medical tests at Coventry and is set to seal his move to the club in the next 24 hours.

Bidwell has not featured for Russell Martin’s side since the 2-0 win over Barnsley in November and was not in the matchday squad at the weekend.

Martin confirmed after his side’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town on Saturday (15 January), via Wales Online, he was “very close” to a move away.

The former England youth international was out of contract in the summer and was not part of the long-term plans at Swansea.

He will end his two-and-a-half-year spell in south Wales with three goals and 13 assists in 105 appearances across all competitions.

Bidwell will likely come straight into the left-wing back role at Coventry City.

Mark Robins has been without Ian Maatsen and Fankaty Dabo in recent weeks meaning midfielder Jordan Shipley has filled in out on the left.

The Sky Blues picked up their first league win since the beginning of November with a 4-1 hammering of Peterborough United at the weekend.

Despite their poor recent form, they are just five points off the play-off positions as they sit in ninth in the Championship table.
