Sources: Tayo Edun undergoes Charlton Athletic medical as deal agreed
Charlton Athletic have agreed a deal for Blackburn Rovers defender Tayo Edun, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old left-back has been a long-term target for the Addicks and they have moved to reach a full agreement ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
Football Insider first revealed back in January that Charlton were eager to sign Edun on loan last season.
A number of other clubs expressed interest in signing Edun, but Charlton have won the race for his signature.
It is understood that he is set to sign a two-year deal at the Valley once the deal is finalised and has already started a medical.
Edun fell down the pecking order at Ewood Park last season and Blackburn are now happy to let the defender move on as Jon Dahl Tomasson looks to refresh his squad.
Edun made just 13 first-team appearances across all competitions last season as he struggled to cement his spot in the starting lineup.
He was deployed at left-back, central midfield and on the left wing, with his versatility making him a useful squad player in Blackburn’s Championship campaign.
He failed to score in the 2022/23 season but registered three assists for Rovers.
Edun’s 12-minute cameo against Cardiff City on New Year’s Day was his latest appearance for Blackburn, with Harry Pickering’s impressive performances in defence keeping him out of the squad.

Edun has spent two seasons at Blackburn after joining the Championship outfit from Lincoln City in 2021.
Prior to his Lincoln spell, Edun spent four years at Fulham but failed to work his way into the Cottagers’ first-team plans.
