Sources: Thomas Partey ready to quit Arsenal in January if he doesn’t get straight back in XI

Thomas Partey is wary about losing his place in the Arsenal side and could quit if he is no longer part of Mikel Arteta’s best eleven, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (15 September) that Partey could be out of action until after the October international break with a groin injury.

The Ghana international had started the 2023-24 campaign in an unfamiliar right-back berth after Declan Rice’s arrival in his favoured defensive midfield role.

Ben White has since been restored to right-back with Gabriel Magalhaes returning at centre-back as Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners against Man United last time out.

And Partey fears he is no longer part of Arsenal’s best side for the first time since joining the club three years ago.

It is believed he could consider a move away in January if he falls out of favour with Arteta, amid links with Italian giants Juventus.

Juve are long-term admirers of the former Atletico Madrid midfielder, who cost Arsenal a reported £45million when he joined in 2020.

Paul Pogba has been provisionally suspended from football after a positive drug test, leaving Maximilliano Allegri’s side short in midfield.

Partey will have 18 months remaining on his Arsenal contract in the January transfer window.

He scored three goals in 40 appearances in the 2022-23 campaign as the Gunners enjoyed their most successful season under Arteta to date.

The defensive midfielder has now racked up 103 games for Arsenal, notching five goals and four assists.

But according to Transfermarkt, he has missed 45 games for club and country through various injury problems since moving to the Premier League.
