Sources: Three-man Chelsea player shortlist revealed after Pochettino green light

Incoming Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to make a goalkeeper signing one of his top priorities in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Current shot-stoppers Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga have struggled for form in a challenging 2022-23 campaign for the Blues.

It is believed Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez will figure highly on Chelsea’s shortlist of potential signings – with several other elite sides coveting him.

Sources with knowledge of the World Cup winner’s situation have revealed that it will take a “huge” bid to lure Martinez away from Villa Park.

Nonetheless, Chelsea are interested in bringing the 30-year-old to Stamford Bridge in the off-season.

Sources have also told Football Insider that Brentford goalkeeper David Raya and Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana also feature on the Blues’ wanted list.

Martinez has been a standout star for Aston Villa in the 2022-23 campaign, notching 13 clean sheets in 35 appearances.

The former Arsenal ace, who is under contract at Villa Park until June 2027, was the shoot-out hero for Argentina on two occasions as they lifted the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The 30-year-old has gone public with his desire to compete at the highest level and win more silverware following his triumph on the biggest stage.

Raya has impressed for Brentford in the 2022-23 campaign, keeping 11 clean sheets in 35 Premier League appearances.
