Sources: Timo Werner ‘says yes’ to Tottenham as medical planned
RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has accepted a proposal from Tottenham as a move edges closer, sources have told Football Insider.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider the ex-Chelsea star has “said yes” to Spurs with talks over a loan move now at an advanced stage.
Werner has been the subject of lots of other Premier League interest this month, with Man United, Liverpool, Newcastle and Aston Villa all keeping tabs on his situation.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (6 January) that United have been offered the chance to sign the Germany international, while Villa had made him a target as they laid the groundwork to bring in a new forward.
But Spurs are set to win the race for Werner’s signature as they search for striking reinforcements in the mid-season window and prepare to be without star man Heung-min Son for up to five weeks while he is on Asian Cup duty.
Leipzig have told the forward he can leave the club this month if his wages are covered in full, and Ange Postecoglou’s side are now in advanced negotiations as they try to strike a deal.
Werner is primed to leave the Leipzig training camp and head to Tottenham to undergo a medical.
Werner has hit just two goals in 14 appearances for Leipzig this season – and has started in just four of those outings.
He previously played in the Premier League for Spurs’ fierce rivals Chelsea, notching 23 goals and 21 assists in 89 games for the Blues before leaving in 2022.
The 27-year-old won the Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Werner, who earns a reported wage of more than £165,000-a-week, is out of contract at Leipzig in June 2026.

Tottenham did not replace former talisman Harry Kane with a like-for-like striker last summer and have instead played Richarlison and Heung-min Son as a central striker this term.
Son is the club’s top scorer with 12 strikes this term but is currently away at the Asian Cup with South Korea.
