Sources: Todd Boehly in no doubt over Enzo Maresca’s future after controversial Chelsea comments
Enzo Maresca’s job at Chelsea is not under threat despite some striking comments after their win against Everton, sources have told Football Insider.
Maresca suggested that he had endured his worst 48 hours at Chelsea prior to their 2-0 win last weekend, in what is understood to have been viewed as a risky statement by the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge.
However, sources say that Maresca’s admission of discontent will not put his job at risk, with owner Todd Boehly keen to give him as long as possible to get things right with the team.
The Blues climbed back into the Premier League’s top four after ending their winless run, and no immediate reaction from Boehly or the board is planned in the wake of the manager’s reveal.

Enzo Maresca to be afforded time at Stamford Bridge
Maresca’s comments have raised eyebrows at Chelsea, particularly after a crucial league win on home turf.
Goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto pushed the Blues past a resurgent Everton, as they recorded their first three points since the end of November.
The manager pointed towards a lack of support that he and his group had received in the days leading up to the game, which sparked controversy regarding the true intentions behind the comments.
Nevertheless, Maresca’s position at the helm remains safe at the moment, with their campaign now back on track.
The Italian led his team to UEFA Conference League glory last term and also secured a Club World Cup triumph in the summer.

The Blues will be hopeful that he can add another trophy to his CV this season, with the board seemingly still in support of his efforts, despite suggestions of a potential rift forming behind the scenes.
Chelsea set for pivotal six-game Premier League spell
Chelsea are expected to spend heavily in January once again, but they face a difficult run of games before they will have the chance to bolster their squad.
The West Londoners face a tricky trip to take on Newcastle in the early kick-off next weekend, before a home clash with high-flying Aston Villa follows on 27 December.
| Date | Opponent | H/A |
| 20 December | Newcastle | A |
| 27 December | Aston Villa | H |
| 30 December | Bournemouth | H |
| 4 January | Manchester City | A |
| 7 January | Fulham | A |
| 17 January | Brentford | H |
Those two clashes mark the start of a tough spell of league meetings for Maresca’s men, with an away game at Manchester City also on the horizon in the first weekend of the new year.
That run culminates with London derbies against Fulham and Brentford in the middle of January, and it is a spell that could prove pivotal for Chelsea’s season.
Secure a strong points return from that period, and they will be firmly back in the title race, but if their recent struggles continue, then they may find themselves sliding down the table as a result.
