Sources: Tottenham discuss three formulas to agree Radu Dragusin deal as formal move tabled

Tottenham are ready to submit a formal offer for Genoa’s Radu Dragusin after holding preliminary talks over a potential deal, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs are pushing hard to sign a new centre-back as soon as the window opens and the Romania international, 21, is firmly on their radar.

Tottenham have been in contact over a deal for Dragusin and have discussed various formulas including permanent, loan and loan-to-buy options.

Genoa are holding out for a permanent deal and have already rejected loan approaches from Serie A clubs for the centre-back.

Dragusin is of strong interest to Roma, AC Milan and Atalanta going into January but it is believed Tottenham are in pole position to agree the terms of a deal.

Spurs are preparing a formal offer for the player as they look to steal a march on his other suitors.

With Nice hopeful of hanging on to another top Spurs target, the centre-back Jean-Clair Todibountil at least the summer, the Londoners have now adjusted their main attention to Dragusin.

Ange Postecoglou has made it publicly and privately clear that his main priority in January is strengthening in the centre-back position following a series of devastating blows in that position.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both sidelined with long-term injuries and the Australian manager has had to field emergency options at centre-back as a result of the club’s extended casualty list.

Ben Davies and Emerson Royal, who have both spent the majority of their careers at full-back, were paired in central defence for the midweek 4-2 defeat to Brighton.
