Sources: Tottenham hold talks over terminating Tanguy Ndombele’s deal
Tottenham have held internal discussions about terminating Tanguy Ndombele’s contract at the club, sources have told Football Insider.
The 26-year-old midfield flop has two more years left on his £200,000-a-week deal in north London.
Ndombele’s value has plummeted further during his unsuccessful loan spell at Napoli this season.
The France international had started promisingly with the Italian giants but is now a fringe player at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
He has managed just two Serie A starts since November as Napoli close in on their first Scudetto since 1990.
Luciano Spaletti’s side have no plans to take up the option to convert Ndombele’s loan stay into a permanent deal.
Tottenham had hoped the midfielder’s loan move would provide a pathway to a full-time exit but he is set to return to his parent club again this summer.
Sources with knowledge of the situation have told Football Insider that discussions have been held within the Spurs hierarchy about terminating Ndombele’s deal and paying him off.
It is believed that hopes of receiving a big transfer fee for the ex-Lyon star have all but evaporated.
Ndombele has racked up 38 appearances across all competitions this term but has managed just 11 starts and 1197 minutes of action.
He was also shipped out on loan to former club Lyon for the second half of the 2021-22 campaign – but also failed to persuade the French giants to re-sign him permanently.
The Frenchman joined Spurs for a reported initial fee of £55.5million in 2019.

He failed to make an impact in the Premier League during 91 appearances for Spurs, notching 10 goals and nine assists.
Ndombele clashed with former Lilywhites boss Antonio Conte throughout their time together at the club.
In other news, Tottenham now want to sign Premier League playmaker – he plays the Spurs way.
