Sources: Tottenham open preliminary talks over Kion Etete transfer
Tottenham have opened preliminary talks with a Championship club over a Kion Etete loan deal for next season, Football Insider understands.
The Londoners are planning a third consecutive loan for the giant striker, 20, after he completes his current spell at Cheltenham Town.
A Spurs source has told Football Insider that initial discussions have been held with a Championship team eager to secure an early agreement for Etete.
The Londoners are delighted with the progress of the youngster on the back of loans at Northampton in League Two and Cheltenham in League One this term.
The club are now planning for Etete to play one division higher in the second tier next season.
Etete is contracted to Spurs until the summer of 2023.
The six feet six inches striker joined Northampton on loan in the summer of 2021 but was recalled early after picking up an injury.
After recovering, he moved up a division to join Cheltenham in January and has so far scored two league goals for the club.
On 6 March, Spurs insider John Wenham told this site Etete is in line for a new deal this summer as he expressed his desire to see the striker move into the second tier.
Etete joined Tottenham from Notts County in the summer of 2019 but was only handed his first loan at the start of the season.
He made four appearances for the Magpies, making his debut aged just 16.

Etete scored six goals for Northampton during the first half of the season.
He has made 32 appearances across his two loan spells this term.
