Sources: Tottenham set sights on Kim Min-Jae after Bayern Munich reveal
Tottenham have set their sights on a deal to sign Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae as they continue plans to strengthen in the summer.
Kim, 29, has become a fringe player in Vincent Kompany‘s side and could be available ahead of the end of the season, placing a number of clubs on alert.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Tottenham are among those keeping a close eye on his situation.
There is a belief that the South Korea international’s physical traits would make him a good fit for the Premier League, and an upgrade on their current options.
However, a deal may prove difficult for Spurs to pull off if they do not qualify for European football, as they will face plenty of competition for his signature.

Tottenham set sights on Kim Min-jae deal
Spurs are not the only club keeping an eye on Kim, as former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last year that Newcastle are interested in the Bayern star.
Of his 23 appearances so far this season, just 13 have come from the start, as he remains behind Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano in Kompany’s plans.
His contract at the Allianz Arena is set to run until 2028, but he could be allowed to leave before that date should he be forced even further down the pecking order.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I think I’m sure Tottenham are probably among a number of clubs looking at Kim’s long term future Bayern Munich.
“He has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting XI at Bayern.
“They’ve got Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah as the preferred centre-back pairing, so Kim has found himself the third choice in Vincent Kompany’s plans.
“There’s been talk that Bayern could be in the market for a new centre-back in the summer as well, so that would just push him even further down the pecking order.
“It’s going to be an interesting summer for Tottenham, they’re desperate to get out of this relegation fight and improve their squad for the coming seasons.
“Kim, I think, has got all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League. He’s strong, quick and his physicality would be suited to the Premier League.
“I think Tottenham might need to do some convincing to sign Kim, especially if they find themselves out of Europe next year.
“It’s a tough deal to do, and there are a number of clubs who will be looking at Kim’s situation at Bayern, especially if he decides he wants to move on.”
Could Cristian Romero leave Tottenham this summer?
Spurs interest in Kim comes amid ongoing speculation about the future of Cristian Romero following what has been a turbulent few weeks for him.
Football Insider revealed on 11 February that Romero could push to leave Tottenham, with Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid both long-term admirers of him.
Tottenham remain keen to keep hold of their captain, but may be unable to do so should he decide he wants to move on at the end of the season.

This comes after Romero publicly criticised the decision-makers at Spurs and their transfer policy, before picking up a red card against Man United.
Those incidents have cast fresh doubts over his future at the club, and they are now eyeing replacements in case he opts to push for a move away.
