Sources: Tottenham star Tanganga close to agreeing Augsburg deal
FC Augsburg are in advanced talks to sign Tottenham star Japhet Tanganga on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs are willing to part ways with the 24-year-old defender, who has fallen down the pecking order in North London.
Ange Postecoglou is aware that his current Tottenham squad is bloated and departures need to be completed before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The new Tottenham boss added centre-back Micky Van de Ven to his squad this summer in a £43million move from Wolfsburg, and the Dutchman’s arrival has left no space for Tanganga in Postecoglou’s lineup.
Van de Ven has started alongside Cristian Romero at the start of the 2023/24 season, with Tanganga failing to even make the matchday squad for Spurs’ EFL Cup clash with Fulham earlier this week.
Tanganga has spent the entirety of his career at Tottenham after working his way through their academy before being integrated into the first-team squad by Jose Mourinho.
He has made 50 appearances for Spurs across all competitions, including 27 appearances in the Premier League.
However, he struggled for game time throughout the entirety of the 2022/23 season, making just seven appearances for a total of 343 first-team minutes.

Augsburg are desperately looking to add some defensive depth to their side ahead of the transfer deadline after the German outfit conceded seven in their opening two Bundesliga fixtures.
Following a 4-4 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach on the opening weekend, Augsburg fell to a 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich with former Tottenham striker Harry Kane scoring twice.
