Sources: Tottenham to accept offers for multiple senior stars – and then complete late midfielder signing

Tottenham plan on letting go of a number of fringe squad players this month before bringing in a new midfielder late in the window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Ange Postecoglou is trying to “clear the decks” of players who do not feature in his long-term plans.

Following several first-team departures already this month, the club are eager for more to leave before signing a central midfielder – their priority position.

As revealed by Football Insider (16 January), Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil this month.

Neither have featured regularly this season and the club are happy to let them go if appropriate offers are received.

The club have seen a swathe of departures this month, including Hugo Lloris’ switch to MLS side Los Angeles FC and Eric Dier’s loan-to-buy move to Bayern Munich.

The club have also sanctioned several loan exits including Japhet Tanganga to Millwall and Sergio Regulion to Brentford.

It is believed that Spurs remain active in pursuing midfielders on their target list.

Sources have told Football Insider (19 January) that their January move for midfielder Conor Gallagher has collapsed as Chelsea now want to keep him for the remainder of the season.

Football Insider also revealed earlier this month (13 January) that wantaway Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is on Spurs’ radar and would cost up to £6million to bring him in on loan for the rest of the season.
