Sources: Tottenham top priority summer signing revealed as Conte makes up mind
Tottenham have identified their main priority in the summer transfer window as a new left-sided defender, sources have told Football Insider.
Antonio Conte is keen to bring some defensive reinforcements to the club in the summer and is unconvinced by Barcelona loanee Clement Lenglet.
Lenglet joined Spurs in the summer but has slipped down Conte’s pecking order in North London and Tottenham are yet to make a final decision on whether Lenglet will join the club permanently.

The 27-year-old centre-back has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season, but Conte has recently opted to start Ben Davies on the left of his back three ahead of the Frenchman.
Tottenham have struggled defensively this season and have conceded 35 goals in just 24 league appearances.
Lenglet spent four years at Barcelona prior to his Tottenham switch but opted to move away from the La Liga giants after being used sparingly by manager Xavi in the 2021/22 season.
Conte has openly expressed his desire for new signings this season, claiming back in September that he’ll need three more transfer windows in order to compete with Tottenham’s Premier League rivals.

Tottenham owner Daniel Levy supplied Conte with the signings of Arnaut Danjuma and right-back Pedro Porro in January, but the Italian manager is still keen to add more defenders to his roster.
Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (24 February) that Tottenham have opened talks with Eric Dier over a new two-year contract extension.
