Sources: Tottenham turn attention to signing player lined up as Alexander Isak replacement
Samu Aghehowa is being chased by the Premier League’s finest teams as he continues to make a name for himself at Porto.
The Spain international’s meteoric rise has put him on the radar of several clubs in Europe and England which could see the Dragões struggle to keep a hold of him.
Sources told Football Insider that Newcastle are monitoring the progress of Aghehowa, even after signing both Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade.
Conversely, Tottenham see Aghehowa as the ideal Solanke replacement with Thomas Frank unhappy with his current striking options.
Porto set to face ‘real fight’ next summer to keep Aghehowa away from Premier League giants
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Portuguese outfit will be bracing themselves for heavy interest in the Spaniard next summer.
Sources told Football Insider that Aghehowa is happy at Porto, but that will not deter top sides in the English top-flight from pursuing him, including the Toon.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over the competition Newcastle will face for the 21-year-old, I explained:“It won’t just be Newcastle [interested in Aghehowa], it’ll be interesting.
“Newcastle did look at him when they were looking at replacements for Alexander Isak before they moved for Nick Woltemade, so, he’s obviously on their list.
“I don’t think it’d be a top priority for them now having brought in Woltemade and Wissa, but Tottenham are interested in him.
“Arsenal and Villa are also interested in Aghehowa as well. So, I think come the summer there could be a lot of clubs who’ll be interested in the big striker and Porto might have a real fight on their hands to keep hold of him.”

As well as pursuing the talented Aghehowa, Mikel Arteta will be eager to consolidate his excellent start to the season by tying more players down to new deals.
Sources told Football Insider that Arsenal are edging closer to a new contract with Bukayo Saka.
The Englishman has been one of the Gunners most consistent players and a vital cog in the Spaniard’s attack.
Tasked with supplying the north London outfit’s creativity, Saka must be given a new deal to show the club are committed to the winger and vice versa.
