Sources: Tranmere Rovers set to sign Rangers star McPake after decision made
Tranmere Rovers are poised to win the race to sign Rangers attacker Josh McPake during the January transfer window, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
This site revealed last week (17 December) that the Glasgow giants are planning to recall the forward, 20, from his temporary spell at Morecambe and loan him out to another club for the second half of the season.
A Rangers source has told Football Insider that discussions with Tranmere over a McPake loan deal are at an advanced stage and an agreement is close.

All parties expect the paperwork to be finalised in time for McPake to join as soon as the January window opens.
That will be a blow to Tranmere’s rival EFL suitors Oldham Athletic and Hartlepool.
Both clubs have expressed an interest in taking McPake for the second half of this campaign.
Promotion-chasing Tranmere, who are fifth in League Two, are now expected to welcome the Scotland Under-21 international to Merseyside.
They have been in the market for an attacker to boost their hopes of going up to League One.
Rangers have been keen to find a new a team for the youngster where he is playing regularly and getting the opportunity to develop his game.
The Glasgow giants have high hopes for McPake and demonstrated that by securing him to a new three-year contract during the summer.
That ties him to Ibrox until 2024 and provides a platform for him to establish himself at the club.
He has found starts hard to come by at Morecambe although that is partly due to injury.
McPake has been sidelined since mid-October with an ankle problem.

He has made three starts for third-tier Morecambe among six appearances in all competitions.
McPake, who has made just one senior appearance for Rangers, is a versatile attacker who operates anywhere across the front line but mainly on the right flank.
