Sources: Trent Alexander-Arnold update emerges amid Real Madrid transfer whispers
Trent Alexander-Arnold is not set to leave Real Madrid anytime soon despite rumours linking him with a move back to the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool to join Real Madrid at the end of his contract last summer, with the Spanish giants paying £10million to sign him so he could play in the Club World Cup.
He had been a key part of the Reds’ 2024-25 title-winning campaign, as well as previous league and Champions League triumphs, but departed the Premier League for a new challenge at another of the world’s biggest clubs.
The England right-back has only started five La Liga games so far this season, with just 11 appearances since the new season kicked off amid recurring injury issues.
Man United have been backed to make a shock move for Alexander-Arnold, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, he is not set to push for a move away in this summer’s transfer window.

Trent will not be leaving Madrid as he fights for his starting place
Madrid have struggled to find top form as a team so far this term, with manager Xabi Alonso sacked earlier this month and replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa for the time being.
Sources previously told Football Insider that Man City could explore a deal for Alexander-Arnold, but the Spanish giants will rebuff any approaches for his services this year.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It would be a surprise (to see him leave Madrid).
“Obviously there was a lot of talk coming out of Spain that Real Madrid were willing to let Trent Alexander-Arnold leave already, but I don’t think that’s the case.
“Real Madrid, there are so many changes going on there, obviously a change of manager right now with Alvaro Arbeloa in charge, we don’t know if he’s going to be there long-term.
“There could be another managerial change in the summer and that’s a clean slate for all the players. I’m sure Trent Alexander-Arnold right now is not giving up on his Real Madrid dream.
“He’ll be determined to stay there and fight for his future whoever the manager is. He’ll want to prove that he can be a success in the Spanish capital.”
Real Madrid want Jurgen Klopp to be Alonso’s long-term successor
From one Liverpool hero to another, Real have long been linked with a move to appoint Klopp following his own Anfield exit in 2024.
Klopp won everything there was to win alongside Alexander-Arnold on Merseyside, but has stepped back from management to take up a role as Red Bull’s Head of Global Football for the last 12 months.

Football Insider recently revealed that Madrid want to appoint Klopp as a long-term successor to Alonso, but he would only be tempted back into management by a huge contract offer.
Klopp is known to be happy at Red Bull and has no immediate plans to return to the dugout, so they may well stick with Arbeloa beyond this season if he impresses over the next few months.
