Sources: Two clubs race to sign Van de Beek in next days after Man United green light

Turkish giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are among the sides monitoring the situation of Man United midfielder Donny van de Beek, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (8 September) that United would like to move the midfielder on ahead of the Turkish window slamming shut next week (15 September).

Eric Bailly and Fred have already made the move from Old Trafford to the Super Lig, joining Besiktas and Galatasaray respectively.

It is believed Man United are keen to free up even more squad space and wages – and believe Van de Beek, 26, should make a move away from the club for the good of his career.

Prior to England’s 1 September deadline, a potential move to Ligue 1 outfit Lorient fell through – while interest from La Liga side Real Sociedad failed to materialise.

Van de Beek has also been omitted from United’s Champions League squad ahead of their first group game against Bayern Munich on 20 September.

The midfielder has yet to play a single minute of action so far in the 2023-24 campaign after suffering a serious knee injury in the previous season.

He made just 10 appearances last term, with an injury sustained in the 3-0 win over Bournemouth in January cutting his season short.

Van de Beek, who has amassed 19 caps for the Netherlands, last turned out for his country in March 2021.

The midfielder has not been a regular in the Man United side under Erik ten Hag, despite their successful time together at Ajax.

Van de Beek left the Dutch giants for Man United in 2020, costing them a reported fee of £39million.

The 26-year-old has made 60 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, starting in just 23 of those outings.

He is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2025.
