Sources: Two Rangers stars open talks over transfers after overnight development

Rangers stars Sam Lammers and Ridvan Yilmaz are both in talks to leave as Phillipe Clement’s January recruitment drive goes into overdrive, sources have told Football Insider.

FC Utrecht are working on a deal to sign Lammers, 26, on loan for the second half of the season and a move is getting closer following further negotiations overnight.

Serie A side Verona are making progress on a move for Yilmaz, 22, with both loan and permanent moves possible.

As revealed by Football Insider, the Ibrox giants’ priorities for the remainder of the window are to sign another forward following the recent arrival of Fabio Silva on loan as well as a left-back.

Lammers has been underwhelming since his reported £3.5million move from Atalanta in the summer, scoring just two goals across 31 appearances in all competitions.

Turkey international Yilmaz has struggled to nail down his spot at left-back and has made just nine starts in the league this season.

The Rangers board are keen to back Clement with new recruits in January in their attempts to pip Celtic to the league title.

Rangers

The Belgian has had an excellent start to life at Ibrox following Michael Beale’s sacking and has lost just one game across his opening 18 matches.

Rangers remain second in the Scottish top flight following their 3-1 win against Kilmarnock on 2 January and next face Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup after the winter break.
