Sources: Update on Everton beating Lyon to last-gasp Said Benrahma deal as ‘fee agreed’

Everton are only able to submit a loan bid for West Ham winger Said Benrahma as he reportedly closes in on a move to Ligue 1 side Lyon, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Irons and Lyon have agreed a fee of around £15million for the 28-year-old.

Reports have suggested Benrahma is yet to make a final decision on returning to France.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (29 January) that Everton are monitoring Benrahma’s situation with Thursday’s (1 February) deadline approaching.

It is believed that signing a new winger has been a priority for Toffees boss Sean Dyche throughout January.

However, Everton are not able to submit a permanent bid for Benrahma and can only sanction a loan deal.

Sources say West Ham and manager David Moyes have given the Algeria international the green light to leave the London Stadium before the deadline.

Benrahma has played 22 times across all competitions this season – including 13 starts – but is yet to find the net.

He is under contract at the London Stadium until June 2026.

Everton

Everton are on the hunt for more attacking firepower as they vie to avoid relegation to the Championship following their 10-point deduction earlier this season.

The Toffees sit just one point and one place above the relegation zone ahead of their next game against Fulham on Tuesday (30 January).
