Sources: Update on Everton, Leeds and Fulham race for Victor Gyokeres

Burnley are set to join the likes of Everton and Leeds United in the race to sign Coventry City star Victor Gyokeres, sources have told Football Insider.

Fulham and Crystal Palace are also among the sides monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation as the summer transfer window approaches.

Sources with knowledge of Gyokeres’ situation have revealed that Coventry are resigned to losing their prize asset if they cannot achieve promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Sky Blues currently occupy a play-off place and have their fate in their own hands heading into their final game against Middlesbrough next week (8 May).

Gyokeres is one of the most in-demand players outside the Premier League and a fight for his signature is expected in the off-season.

The Sweden international will have just 12 months left to run on his contract at Coventry at the end of next month.

He has scored 22 goals and notched 10 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions this season.

His haul of 21 Championship strikes means he is second in the scoring charts in the second tier.

Former Brighton star Gyokeres has made 13 appearances for his native Sweden, scoring three goals.

Promoted Burnley are already plotting their transfer business for their return to the Premier League, with a striker needed as Ashley Barnes prepares to depart Turf Moor.

Everton

Leeds and Everton will likely need to avoid relegation to persuade Gyokeres to join – but both sides are currently in danger of dropping to the Championship.

Fulham and Crystal Palace are aiming to bolster their respective front lines for next season as they zero in on mid-table Premier League finishes in 2022-23.
