Sources: Update on Tottenham signing £80m-valued star

Tottenham are set to be priced out of a move for £80million-rated RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande in the summer window.

Diomande has risen to prominence due to some fine form for Leipzig this season following a move from Spanish side Leganes last summer.

The 19-year-old, who can play across the forward line, has registered eight goals and five assists in 21 appearances for the club sat fifth in the Bundesliga as it stands.

Liverpool have scouted Diomande this season, but they are not the only Premier League club linked with a move for his services.

Tottenham have also been touted to move for Diomande, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, they will find it tough to match the hefty price tag that Leipzig have put on his head.

Tottenham like Diomande but could be priced out of a summer move

Man United are another ‘Big Six’ club who have been linked to Diomande, and he looks likely to leave Leipzig in the summer, provided his stellar form continues.

Spurs are keen admirers of the 19-year-old as it stands, but are set to be priced out of an approach ahead of next season, with the Bundesliga side due to demand upwards of £80m.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I think he’s going be one of the most sought-after players probably in the summer transfer window.

“I think it was just too early for him to move in the January transfer window, and his price tag was probably prohibitive for a number of clubs.

Spurs are admirers of Diomande but I think obviously his price tag will be a big obstacle to clear for them.

“RB Leipzig were looking around £80million plus for him, and I think that might be a bit too rich for Tottenham.

Thomas Frank to keep his job at Spurs after upturn in form

Tottenham have a lot of issues that need addressing before they can focus on summer transfers, with Frank‘s future being one of the most pressing of the lot.

The Dane has struggled to get his ideas across to the squad this season, with Tottenham currently sat 14th in the Premier League, and 11 points away from the top five.

They are unbeaten in their last four games, however, and a 2-2 draw with Man City last weekend was a sign that all hope is not lost with him at the helm.

Former Everton and Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness has told Football Insider that Spurs players have kept Frank in a job following their recent performances, and as a result, it seems unlikely that he is let go anytime soon.
