Sources: Victor Orta on brink of new job days after Leeds United exit
Sevilla have held talks with recently-sacked Leeds United transfer guru Victor Orta over becoming their new director of football, sources have told Football Insider.
Monchi is the current holder of the job but will leave the club after a poor season and mounting pressure from fans and critics.
Orta, 44, has spoken with the Spanish side about a return to the club where he was technical director for seven years before heading to England.
A return to Seville is now likely for the former Leeds man as he still is known to have close ties to the club he spent so long at previously.
A deal is not yet finalised but it is believed that it is close and all parties are increasingly confident of an agreement.
Orta was dismissed from his role at Elland Road after six years on the back of a wretched season that has left the club’s Premier League status hanging by a thread.
Monchi will leave his role after almost 11 years at the club, in which he has been integral to their remarkable haul of four Europa League wins.
Despite his success he will depart the club and discussions are underway with potential replacements.

Leeds are on the brink of relegation and recently hired Sam Allardyce as interim manager in a late-ditch bid to preserve their Premier League status.
They are set to hire a new director of football of their own before appointing a new long-term manager in the summer.
