Sources: Walsall bid accepted for ex-Leicester City sensation Jamie Jellis
Walsall have had a bid accepted for National League North sensation Jamie Jellis, sources have told Football Insider.
The former Leicester City trainee, 23, has received rave reviews while playing for sixth-tier Tamworth this season.
Scouts from several EFL clubs have been making regular checks on the central midfielder, but Walsall have moved quickly to beat out their rivals by agreeing a fee.
Jellis has started 26 games for the Lambs this season, notching four goals and one assist from central midfield.
He initially moved to the club on loan from Kings Langley for a month in November 2022 but rejoined in February 2023 before making his move permanent at the start of the season.
During his second loan spell, he helped Tamworth get promoted to the National League North.
He recently made his 50th appearance for the club – a 1-0 win against Darlington which extended Tamworth’s winning streak to seven games.
Jellis has had previous spells across non-league football with Hemel Hempstead, St Albans and Aylesbury United after he was released by Stevenage.
The midfielder signed a professional contract with Stevenage in January 2020 but did not make a senior appearance for the club before his release.
Jellis’ excellent performances have helped get Tamworth to the top of the National League North.

They are eight points clear of second-place Scunthorpe United, who they face on Saturday (20 January), and look well set for back-to-back promotions.
Walsall sit 13th in League Two following their 3-1 loss to Stockport on 13 January and are next in action at home against Accrington Stanley on Saturday (20 January).
