Sources: Watford talks with Francesco Farioli collapse
Francesco Farioli will not be appointed as the next Watford manager, sources have told Football Insider.
The 34-year-old manager was the first-choice managerial candidate for the Championship side, but talks between the two parties have collapsed.
It is understood that Watford made contact with Farioli and discussed the possibility of taking the hot seat at Vicarage Road, but terms weren’t agreed and the Italian is now out of the running.
Football Insider sources first revealed last month (April 12) that Watford held talks with Farioli over the managerial vacancy.
Farioli drew attention to his managerial abilities last season after leading Turkish side Alanyaspor to a fifth-placed finish in the league with a club-record 64 points.
Alanyaspor was only Farioli’s second-ever stint as manager, with his first coming at Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk in 2021.
There has been plenty of interest in Farioli across Europe, and it is understood that he is on the radar of multiple clubs across the continent.
He has previously been linked with Rangers before they appointed Michael Beale, with Fabrizio Romano revealing in December 2022 that the Glasgow giants held talks with Farioli.

After failing to land the Rangers job, Farioli decided to leave Alanyaspor in February, communicating to the club that he wanted to terminate his contract in Turkey after only spending 14 months in charge of the side.
Farioli left Alanyaspor with a 41.67 per cent win rate after winning 20 of his 48 games in charge.
