Sources: West Ham have agreed Kalvin Phillips fee that’s £4.5m less than Man City initial demand

West Ham United agreed loan fee for Kalvin Phillips after beating Newcastle United, Tottenham and Crystal Palace to deal

West Ham United agreed a £3million loan fee with Man City to take Kalvin Phillips for the second half of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Citizens initially asked for £6million from clubs to take the England international in January but struggled to find suitors willing to pay that sum for a six-month spell.

It is believed that the Hammers negotiated a price £3m below that, and £4.5m less than what City wanted last summer.

West Ham are also paying the midfielder’s full salary during his time at the London Stadium – a reported £140,000-a-week.

As first revealed by Football Insider (16 December), Man City had demanded a £7.5million fee last summer to let him go on loan for the whole season.

Since his move to the east London side in January, Phillips has made two appearances for the club.

He was handed his debut in his first start for his new club – the Hammers’ 1-1 draw against Bournemouth on 1 February.

The 28-year-old was dropped to the bench for their next Premier League game where they lost 3-0 to Man United at home, but made an appearance from the bench.

As revealed by Football Insider (2 February), David Moyes’ side have been told by Man City that they will have to play £40million to make his loan move permanent in the summer.
