He is in the final 18 months of his contract at the AMEX Stadium and the Irons are ready to test Brighton’s resolve to hang on to him.

Trossard has scored four goals in 21 Premier League outings this season.

He is a key player for Graham Potter, starting 20 of the club’s 23 league games this term.

The Belgium international has made also one substitute appearance and missed the other two games through injury.

In total, he has scored 14 goals and chipped in with nine assists in 87 league appearances since he joined the Seagulls for a reported £18million in July 2019.

He arrived from Genk and was Potter’s second signing as Brighton boss.

West Ham are still looking for more firepower as they look to go one better than last season and finish in the Champions League places.

The Hammers are yet to make a senior addition this month.

Michail Antonio remains the only senior striker at West Ham though attacker Jarrod Bowen has been in sensational goalscoring form of late.

The attacker has bagged six goals and provided nine assists in 23 league outings this season.
