Sources: West Ham now favourites to sign Leeds star Gnonto with another deal ‘very advanced’
West Ham are now favourites to sign Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto this month, sources have told Football Insider.
The 20-year-old has moved up the Irons pecking order with David Moyes understood to be a big admirer of the Italy international.
Moyes is very keen to secure a wide man before this month’s transfer deadline and Gnonto has become a top target.
It is believed that Leeds are willing to sell Gnonto this month once they have finalised their own deal for Burnley winger Manuel Benson.
As revealed by Football Insider, Leeds United are in ‘very advanced talks’ to sign Benson despite Southampton’s hijack attempt.
West Ham are ready to move quickly for Gnonto once Benson’s deal is finalised with Moyes wanting to add strength and depth to a squad currently ravaged by injuries.
The Hammers boss is without Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez due to injury while Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd are also absent due to their participation in the African Cup of Nations.

Gnonto hit the ground running at Leeds following his £5million move in 2022 with the youngster scoring four goals and assisting four times in his debut season.
However, he has fallen out of favour at Elland Road following their relegation to the Championship and has played just 883 minutes of football for the Yorkshire side this season.
