Sources: West Ham plan to sign ‘exceptional’ Hlozek in January as groundwork laid to beat Liverpool to deal

West Ham are working on a deal to land Sparta Prague sensation Adam Hlozek in January, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Hammers have had an interest in the striker, 19, for some time after their immensely successful raids on the Czech market for Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that West Ham are intensifying their pursuit of Hlozek ahead of January as they look to win the race for his signature.

The Irons face strong competition for the teenage star from other Premier League and top European clubs.

He has been shortlisted as a target by Liverpool, as first revealed by Football Insider on 22nd April, with Jurgen Klopp’s title challengers monitoring him ahead of and during the recent summer.

Hlozek has emerged as the latest hot property from the Czech Republic and has already been capped 12 times by his country.

He has been described as an “exceptional striker” by Sparta boss Pavel Vrba and has been the first choice front man for the Europa League outfit for two years.

West Ham are in the market for a new number nine who can develop under David Moyes and his coaching staff.

He was used mainly as a substitute in the Euros, when Patrik Schick was the first choice forward.

Hlozek has played 106 times for Sparta and scored 32 times as well as provided 29 assists since graduating from their youth ranks.

He missed a big chunk of last domestic season with a broken foot but still scored 15 goals and provided nine assists from 23 matches.

The teenager has netted four times from 21 games this term as well as supplied an impressive eight assists.
