Sources: West Ham scouts impressed by Montpellier star Akor Adams as bid plotted

West Ham are plotting a potential swoop for Montpellier star Akor Adams in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Irons, alongside Premier League rivals Fulham, have watched the 23-year-old in action on several occasions this season and have been wowed by his performances.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 December) that Fulham are also weighing up a January bid for the Montpellier forward.

Adams has hit seven goals in 16 Ligue 1 outings so far in the 2023-24 campaign – his first in France.

The Nigerian is second only to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe in the scoring charts in the top tier.

Adams stands at 6ft 3in and has wowed onlooking recruitment staff with his powerful play in the final third.

It is believed the 23-year-old is just one name on the striker shortlist for David Moyes’ side as the new year approaches.

Football Insider revealed last week (15 December) that a new striker is the top priority for West Ham in the January window.

Michail Antonio is currently out with a knee injury, while fellow out-and-out centre-forward Danny Ings has fallen down the pecking order at the London Stadium since the start of the 2023-24 season and could be allowed to leave in the new year.

Jarrod Bowen is the club’s top scorer this season with ten goals in all competitions, while summer signing Mohammed Kudus has managed nine strikes.

Adams only joined Montpellier from Norweigan side Lillestrom in the summer window and is under contract until June 2027.

West Ham sit eighth in the Premier League and will play in the Europa League knockout stages from March after winning their group.

In other news, Saudi clubs now want to sign West Ham star in January.
