Sources: West Ham scouts seriously impressed by Gabriel Sara as price tag revealed

West Ham are set to race RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid for Norwich City midfielder Gabriel Sara this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the Irons have sent scouts regularly to Carrow Road to watch the 23-year-old this season – and have been left seriously impressed by his performances.

West Ham are plotting a number of midfield signings amid speculation over the futures of key duo Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

Sara is just one of a number of potential midfield targets for the Irons ahead of the summer window.

Norwich signed the Brazillian for a reported initial fee of £11million last year (2022) and want to make a quick profit if they are forced to sell to a bigger club during the off-season.

It is believed that a fee of between £25-30million could be enough to prise the former Sao Paulo star away from Carrow Road.

Sara has started 21 of a possible 36 Championship games this term but has still notched five goals and four assists for the Canaries.

The 23-year-old has lined up in various central midfield roles as well as on both flanks for the Norfolk side.

In Brazil, Sara managed 17 goals and nine assists in 113 games at boyhood club Sao Paulo before earning a move to England.

His Norwich contract runs until June 2026 and the Canaries have the option to extend it a further 12 months.

West Ham

Any potential deal is sure to hinge on West Ham maintaining their Premier League status.

The Irons are 17th in the top-flight and sit outside the drop zone only by virtue of goal difference.
