Sources: West Ham set to accept offers for two first-XI stars – replacement lined up
West Ham duo Maxwel Cornet and Said Benrahma are both likely to be sold by the 1st February transfer cut-off, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Hammers are looking to recruit a new winger in January, but have deemed the pair surplus to requirements.
It is believed that the club will accept offers for both Cornet and Benrahma if appropriate bids come in before the end of the window.
Sources have told Football Insider (20 January) that Ligue 1 clubs Lyon and Marseille are now in a two-way race to sign Benrahma, who is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.
Benrahma was most recently sent off for dangerous play in West Ham’s FA Cup third-round replay defeat against Bristol City and is yet to open his goalscoring account for the season.
Cornet scored his first goal of the campaign in his first Premier League start of the season against Sheffield United on Sunday (21 January) but has had limited game time under David Moyes.
Sources have told Football Insider that the club will look to recruit a new winger this month and have an extensive target list.
Football Insider revealed (20 January) that they are now favourites to sign Leeds United winger Willy Gnonto this month with Moyes understood to be a big admirer of the Italy international.
Sources have also told Football Insider (19 January) that West Ham chiefs are spearheading a bid to sign Ajax forward Steven Bergwijn this month, but the manager is unconvinced.

West Ham remain sixth in the Premier League table after they dropped two points in the closing stages of their 2-2 clash against the Blades on Sunday (21 January).
