Sources: West Ham shortlist Santiago Gimenez after Sunderland update
AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez is on West Ham’s striker shortlist ahead of the January window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Mexican only moved to the San Siro from Feyenoord in February, but he could already be on his way out as early as this winter.
Niclas Fullkrug is set to leave West Ham when the window opens, and sources say that Gimenez features in the list of potential replacements that have been drawn up in East London.
Milan would be willing to entertain a potential sale for the 24-year-old, provided their current striker search can yield its own replacement in the early stages of the window.

Santiago Gimenez’s move to AC Milan has not worked out
Sunderland also showed an interest in Gimenez earlier in the season, but that appears to have faded as the window approaches.
Nevertheless, a deal for Milan to move the frontman on is still likely to come to fruition this winter, as his move to Italy simply hasn’t worked so far.
Gimenez was prolific for Feyenoord across a two-and-a-half-year spell between 2022 and February 2025, as he surpassed the 20-goal mark in all competitions in two campaigns.
He was also just four goals shy of that milestone once again in 2024-25, before Milan swooped in with an initial offer of around £28million.
Gimenez managed six goals in 19 appearances for the Rossoneri after his move last season, but he has struggled badly this term, and is yet to find the net in Serie A across his opening nine league appearances of the campaign.
However, a Premier League move could still be on the cards for him in January, with both West Ham and Leeds keen to do business.
West Ham also have Josh Sargent on their radar
Football Insider recently revealed that West Ham scouts have been impressed by Josh Sargent, after they watched him in Norwich’s 4-1 defeat to Birmingham City on 22 November.
The American is another forward who is on the Hammers’ radar in the lead-up to January, as he has become one of the Championship’s most exciting talents in recent seasons.
Sargent has nine goal contributions from his opening 20 games for the Canaries this season, and managed 20 from just 32 outings in an injury-affected campaign last term.
The 25-year-old is a creator as well as a goalscorer, and already has Premier League experience, having been part of the Norwich team that was relegated from the top-flight back in 2021-22.
He has been heavily linked with a return to the top tier of English football in the last few windows, and this may finally be the window where he gets his move.
