Sources: What Tottenham will have to pay to sign Ademola Lookman in January

Tottenham will have to pay £50million to sign Ademola Lookman from Atalanta in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Lookman was linked with a move to Spurs over the summer, but the deal didn’t get over the line.

Tottenham are desperate to bring in another wide forward when the window reopens, as they look to reinforce their attacking ranks.

Sources say that it will be difficult for the north London side to sign Lookman in January however, and would cost them at least £50m.

Ademola Lookman may have Atalanta lifeline

Lookman fell out with former manager Ivan Juric after being subbed off in Atalanta’s Champions League game against Marseille on 5 November.

The winger’s future at the Italian club looked to be over, but Juric was sacked just five days later.

New boss Raffaele Palladino may be able to convince Lookman to stay, which would be a big blow for Tottenham and Thomas Frank.

The 28-year-old is under contract at Atalanta until the summer of 2027, so the club are not under too much pressure to cash in during the January window.

Tottenham have another winger target

Meanwhile, Takefusa Kubo could be intrigued by a move to Tottenham after Real Sociedad’s poor start to the season.

Given Real Sociedad sit in 14th in La Liga and without European football, the 24-year-old could be tempted by the prospect of playing in the Champions League with Spurs.

Sources told Football Insider that Tottenham would need to pay £52million to sign Kubo by activating his release clause.

The Japanese winger may be seriously considering the possibility of working under Frank in North London.
