Sources: Wolves agree new Chem Campbell deal

Wolves attacking midfielder Chem Campbell has agreed a new contract with the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old has taken his game to a new level and made four Premier League appearances this season off the bench.

Wolves have moved to reward the teenager for his progress with a new and improved deal and a full agreement is now in place.

The Midlands outfit are trying to secure their best young talents on long-term contracts.

Campbell’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.

As per club media (16 September), Wolves announced the attacking midfielder was one of three young talents joining the first-team setup for the 2022-23 season.

Left-back Hugo Bueno and goalkeeper Jackson Smith were also promoted after impressing in youth games at the start of the new campaign.

Campbell is no stranger to first-team action as he was named the second-youngest starter in Wolves history at 16 years old when he was named in the side to face Aston Villa in the League Cup in 2019.

He was also named the Molineux club’s best young talent in The Guardian‘s Next Generation list in 2019.

The Wales youth international is now living up to those lofty expectations after making his Premier League breakthrough in an otherwise dismal start to the season at managerless Wolves.

The club have confirmed winger Pedro Neto will miss the World Cup with an ankle injury which will require surgery – handing Campbell a further chance to impress.
