Sources: Wolves and Brighton make moves to sign Steven Benda
Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolves are plotting moves for Swansea City goalkeeper Steven Benda, Football Insider understands.
The Premier League duo have targeted the 23-year-old as they look to bring cover and competition for the number two role at their respective clubs.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Brighton and Wolves have registered their interest in Benda.
Wolves are in the market for a new keeper after veteran John Ruddy left the club earlier this summer, while Brighton are looking to add to their options ahead of the new season.
Benda first joined Swansea in 2017 and has enjoyed successful loan spells at Swindon Town and Peterborough United.
He spent the second half of the 2021-22 campaign with Peterborough and kept two clean sheets in 11 appearances as they were relegated from the Championship.
At Swansea, he was behind Ben Hamer and Andy Fisher in the pecking order but Hamer has left the club this summer.
Russell Martin has brought in Fisher from his former club MK Dons in January to be his new number one and he kept five clean sheets in 20 games in 2021-22.
Benda still has two years left to run on his Swansea contract but is unlikely to break back into the side.
He kept three clean sheets in eight games across all competitions for Swansea – with most of them coming at the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign.

At Wolves, Benda would act as back up to Jose Sa who enjoyed a fine 2021-22 season with 11 clean sheets in 37 Premier League appearances.
Robert Sanchez is the number one at Brighton and Jason Steele is his current deputy.
In other news, Everton are readying a bid for a 23 goal and assist Wolves star.
